Options OutputThe Output tab allows you to set various parameters regarding the saving of files by CapSnapper, including the image format, color format, output location and file name generation parameters.

Image format

Select a desired image format from the drop-down list. The following formats are available:

BMP (uncompressed)
JPEG (lossy compression)
PNG (compressed)
TIFF (compressed)
TIFF (uncompressed)

Note that PNG will often provide better compression than JPEG for screen shots that do not include photographic areas, and will be of better quality. You can always use a batch image processing tool, such as our product ThumbsPlus, to convert images to other formats

Recommended setting: TIFF or PNG, since these can include an alpha channel that can set non-captured areas to transparent.

Color format

Here you select the color format you desire for the captured images.

32 bit RGBA - Full-color images including an alpha channel for transparency. Available for TIFF and PNG output formats.
24 bit RGBA - Full-color images. Available for all formats. Uncaptured areas will be filled with the background color.
8 bit gray - Grayscale images. Available for all formats.
