Tables
A table is chunks of information arranged in rows and columns. The grid of rows and columns forms the cells in which you can organize text.
Tables provide Web designers ways to add vertical and horizontal structure to a page. The tables are presenting information in tabular format to convey complex concepts and ideas. Actual Drawing makes it easy to add tables to a web page. You can select and work with a whole table, or several cells. Each of these objects has its own properties.
To Create a Table
- From the Insert menu, click Table and select New Table.
- The New Table dialog box appears.
- In the Number of Columns box, enter the number of columns.
- In the Number of Rows box, enter the number of rows.
- Click the Set Color button to select the table color.
- Click OK to add the table.
In the document window draw a box where you want to position the table.
Setting table properties
Once you create a table you can easily modify both the appearance and the structure of the table.
To set table properties
- Click Table from the Modify menu and select Table Properties.
- The Table Properties dialog box appears.
- In the Width box, enter the width of the table in pixels. If you want to define the table width in percents, click to select the "Width is defined in percents" check box and enter the percents value. If web page is exporting with layers, the table width in percents counted on basis of its layer's width. If web page is exporting without layers, the table width in percents counted on basis of the web page width.
- In the Border box set a thickness for the table border. Thickness is measured in pixels.
- Click the Light Border Color button to select a color for the top and left sides of the table.
- Set the Cell Spacing, which is the distance between cells.
- Set the Cell Padding, which is the amount of space between the contents of a table cell and the cell boundaries. Cell padding is measured in pixels.
- Click the Cell Dark Border Color button to select a color for the top and left sides of the table cells.
- Click the Cell Light Border Color button to select a color for the right and bottom sides of the table cells.
- Click the OK button to set the new table properties.
Changing cell color
You can modify cell or cells color.
To change cell color
- Select the cell or cells, which color you want to change.
- Click Table from the Modify menu, and select Cell Color.
- Select a color from the color picker.
Resizing Table Rows and Columns
To resize row or column
- In the document window, select the table.
- Point to the border of the row or column, which you want to resize, and drag the cell boundary to the new size. If you resize a row, it changes row height and the overall table height.
Inserting and deleting rows and columns
- You can add, delete, split, and merge rows and columns.
To insert row or column
- Click anywhere in the row or column where you want to insert new row or column.
- Click Table from the Insert menu, and select Insert Column to the Left or Insert Column to the Right or Insert Row above or Insert Row below.
To delete a row or column
- Click anywhere in the row or column you want to delete.
- Click Table from the Modify menu, and select Delete Rows or Delete columns.
