Recorder
AV WCM has its own sound Recorder which makes it easy for you to record and save your conversations, morphed voice messages, as well as modified video. To display Recorder, click the Recorder button on the Main panel.

In the Tasks list box below the controls you may see the task name(s). By default, a task name is based on the name of the application that is the current recording source and the timestamp at the time the application started playing. To find out how to change the new name format and/or the folder in which your recordings will be saved, see Base Folder and Template. The blue light preceding a task name means Recorder is ready. To start recording the current audio stream, click the Record button. The light before the task name will be red as long as the audio stream is being recorded. The data under Length will display the elapsed time and the length of the recording. If you want to pause recording, click the Pause button. When you do so, the blue light preceding a task name will become 'paused' ( ). To resume recording, click the Pause button again. To stop recording, click the Stop button. When a recording task is complete, the red light will become 'stopped' ( ). If a red exclamation mark (!) appears before a task, it means that an error occurred in the process of recording. To play the selected file, click the Play button.
Note:
|
AV WCM Recorder can only record files in *.avi format. |
If you move the pointer over a task name, Recorder will display a tool tip with complete information about the task. If you right-click a task that is new, or in progress, or paused, or stopped, a shortcut menu will appear that may contain the following commands:
| record |
starts recording the current task. |
| play |
to open the VCM Player and to play back the selected file in it. |
| pause |
pauses recording. |
| stop |
stops recording. |
Note: |
When you remove a task from the Tasks list, the corresponding file will remain in the Base folder, when you delete a task, it will be removed from the Tasks list, and the corresponding file will be deleted from the Base folder. |
Recorder Settings
WCM Recorder Settings are logically grouped into two tabs. The tab that you last selected will be active when the Recorder Settings dialog box appears. If it's the first time you are adjusting the Recorder settings, the Base Folder and Template tab will be active by default.
Base Folder and Template

The settings in the Base folder and template tab allow you to choose the folder in which your recordings will be saved as sound files and the template that will be used by AV WCM when it will automatically generate names for the new tasks and corresponding files.
By default, your recordings will be saved as sound files in My Documents folder. To change the Base folder, you can click the arrow and choose one of the three predefined options for the Base folder. If you want to choose a different folder, you can simply click in the Base folder box and type the path of an existing folder. If you are not sure about the exact path, click the Browse button on the right of the Base folder box. When you do, the Browse for Folder dialog box will appear. Select a folder for the new Base folder and click OK. The Browse for Folder dialog box will close, and the path of the new Base folder will appear in the Base folder box.
The Name template box lets you choose one of the four predefined new Name template values and/or edit any of them. A Name template value consists of text data and a variable value (%variable%). When AV WCM generates the name for a new recording task, it will replace a variable value with the corresponding value, while text data will remain unchanged. The explanations to the variable values are displayed in the Variable Values panel.
The Example box displays the path of the current Base folder and an example of the new task name. When you change the Base folder and/or Name template value, the value of the Example box will change accordingly.
Encoders

The settings in the Encoders tab let you choose an encoder that Recorder will use processing the recording tasks. The Encoders tab has two modes: Simple mode and Advanced mode. The default one is the Simple mode.
When the Simple mode is activated, the Encoders tab allows you to choose only the type of encoder but not the exact format. In this case, when Recorder starts processing a recording task, it will automatically select the best format supported by the current encoder.
To select an encoder, click a format group, and then double-click it, or press the SPACEBAR or ENTER. When you do, a shortcut menu will appear allowing you to choose one of the encoders that belong to the selected format group.
Note:
|
To close the WCM Recorder Settings tab-panel and apply the new settings, click OK. To close the WCM Recorder Settings tab-panel without performing any operation, click Cancel. If you want to apply the new settings without closing the WCM Recorder Settings tab-panel, click Apply. |
Autostart
Autostart feature lets you start recording automatically. When you select the check-box 'Turn autostart recording'
and then click 'Apply' and 'Ok' buttons WebCam Morpher Recorder is ready to automatically start recording.
Recorder starts recording after you open it.
There are two variants how autostart recording can work:
- The first one is when you select 'Autostart for all applications'. Then WebCam Morpher is ready to automatically record video and audio data of all the applications on the applications list.
- The second one is when you select 'Autostart for custom applications'. Then WebCam Morpher is ready to automatically record video and audio data of all the applications which you choose manually.
You can also manually add or remove any applications you like (before this you should select 'Turn autostart recording').
