This button is intended for enabling IVOS to receive voice commands. To start issuing commands the Start Recognition button is pressed. The microphone icon is enabled when the user is talking and changes to disabled when no voice commands are being received. Once the user presses the Start Recognition button, the button changes to the Stop Recognition and the icon present is displayed as enabled to indicate that the application is ready to receive voice input and hence the user can start talking. The above state indicates that the application is currently active and listening for voice input from the user. The user has to press the button once again to deactivate the application from listening.

Therefore only one of the two buttons can be selected at a time. When the other button is selected the previously selected button is automatically deselected. The application operates in the dictation mode till the dictation button remains in a pressed state. The user can change from the dictation mode by either pressing the dictation button again or by pressing the command button or by saying "command", which in turn disables the dictation button.

Command Mode

The user can use this button to switch the application to the command mode. In the command mode the user issues commands to operate the active application. The application then performs the action corresponding to the command given by the user. The user can change from the command mode by pressing the dictation button or by saying "dictation", which in turn disables the command button.
