How To Create Special Graphs

Following these steps to create color map, contour map and vector plot of following function:
z=sin(x)sin(y)
-6<=x<=6 -6<=y<=6

Step 1: Create A New Special Graph Document

If graphs created before are 2D, 2.5D or 3D, click Create Special Graph button first to create a new special graph document.

Step 2: Create Color Map

Click Colormap button to open Function Color Map dialog box. In default, Function Grapher discribes functions in the form of parametric, so, z=sin(x)sin(y) should be modified into the form of x=u, y=v,z=sin(u)sin(v).

Step 3: Add Contour Map

Click Add Contour Map button to open Function Contour dialog box. In default, Function Grapher discribes functions in the form of parametric, so, z=sin(x)sin(y) should be modified into the form of x=u, y=v,z=sin(u)sin(v).

In Function Color Map dialog box, input u in X(u,v) field, input v in Y(u,v) field, input sin(u)sin(v) in Z(u,v) field, input -6 in Min u field, input 6 in Max u field, input 40 in Steps u field, input -6 in Min v field, input 6 in Max v field, input 40 in Steps v field.

Step 4: Add Vector Plot

Click Add Vector Plot button to open Function Vector Plot dialog box. In Function Color Map dialog box, input u in X(u,v) field, input v in Y(u,v) field, input sin(u)sin(v) in Z(u,v) field, input -6 in Min u field, input 6 in Max u field, input 30 in Steps u field, input -6 in Min v field, input 6 in Max v field, input 30 in Steps v field.
