Connecting To Server

In order to Install, Uninstall, Start or Stop the WhoHasNT service, you will first need to connect to the server to be configured.

This can either be the local machine that you are using, or a remote machine on the network.

  1. Select the appropriate check box : "This Machine" or "Remote Machine".
  2. Enter the server name if "Remote Machine" is selected.
  3. Click Connect

  • WhoHasNT connects to remote machines using the credentials of the currently logged on user. If this user has insufficient permissions to manipulate the Service Control database and Registry of the remote machine then "Permission Denied" errors will occur.
  • In this event, you can either
    • Manually connect to the server using a different credential set prior to Clicking Connect.
    • Log on directory to the machine in question (either physically or via Terminal Services) and run the Admin tool locally on that machine.

Once you have connected to a server, you can:

  1. Install or Uninstall the service on the connected machine
  2. Start and Stop the service
  3. View the log file of WhoHasNT actions.
