Literal Judgments
Literal judgments are the default method for making pairwise judgments. The judgments are made by selecting on the side of the favorable criterion or alternative a numeric value that corresponds to the literal judgments.

When all of the judgments have been made for a level the consistency index is calculated to indicate how consistent the judgments are (i.e., if A>B and B>C than C should be greater than B). Using the consistency hint or real time consistency feature may help you determine where the inconsistencies are.
