Settings Connected with Time

You can change default time settings in the program such as time units and work schedule and also correct time of work completion.

  • Project Start Date
  • Schedule setting
    • Default calendar
    • Workspace schedule
  • Changing dates of task completion
    • Change date in the task list
    • Change time of task completion on the graphic part of the Chart
    • Change time of task completion in floating dialog General
  • Customizing of timescale

Project Start Date

In ConceptDraw Project Start Date is set. Basing on it, you can set start date for any new task, which is not a part of the phase. The new task added to the phase takes project Start Date as the start date for itself. Project Start Date is set in floating dialog Project.

By default floating dialogs are located on the right part of the screen. However they can be moved to any part of the screen. They also can be left floated or can be docked to any side of the program window. The dialog can be minimized or restored if necessary. In details about operating floating dialogs read here.

Operating Floating Dialog

At change of the project start data all start and completion dates will be automatically shifted to the new term. At that duration of tasks, links between them and other settings are kept.

Schedule setting

Default calendar

Each company or enterprise works at the certain fixed schedule. As a rule the working day and breaks begin and terminate at the same exact time. Mostly the working day lasts 8 hours with a single lunch break. However, depending on your needs, the working day can be split into more parts with more breaks or without breaks at all. So, that not to setup the schedule for each new project, it is set once in default calendar. This default schedule will be assigned to each new workspace and new project.

Note: If there is a neccesity to assign the individual schedule to any workspace or resource, it can be performed in dialog Edit Calendar. For more details on the resource calendar see the Chapter Managing resources - Resource calendar.

Default schedule is set in dialog Preferences on tab Default Calendar.

To call dialog Preferences with tab Default Calendar, apply command Preferences in menu File. In the opened dialog Preferences switch to tab Default Calendar.

Default Calendar

In the dialog the following parameters can be set:

  • Working Weekdays: working and non-working days. Working days are marked in check-boxes.
  • Default Working Time: working time and breaks. In the left cell Start Time of the working time is set, in the right one – Finish Time. The difference between the Finish Time of one part and Start Time of the other is a work break. By default, a working day is divided into 2 parts with 1 lunch break, the program, however, allows to split a day in an arbitrary number of parts from 1 to 5.
  • Week Start on: first weekday.
  • Hours per Day: number of working hours per working day.
  • Hours per Week: number of working hours per working week.
  • Days per Month: number of working days per month

Below you can set the first weekday, the number of working hours per day and per week and the number of working days per month.

Task: set the following examples on the tab:

  • Working Weekdays: days off – Saturday and Sunday. The rest weekdays are working days
  • Default Working Time: 2 working parts – 10.00 – 14.00 and 15.00 – 19.00
  • Week Start on: Monday
  • Hours per Day: 8
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Days per Month: 20
