Operations on Whole Mind Map

To set the style and formatting for all the topics in your Mind Map, you can use the Format Topics dialog.

To call the Format Topics dialog, do one of the folllowing:

Toolbar Click the Format Topics... button on the Topic Management toolbar.
Menu Сhoose the Topics... item from the Format menu.
Context menu Сhoose the Format Topics... item from the topic context menu.

The Format Topics dialog includes 3 tabs: Shape, Alignment, Spacing.

Shape

The Shape tab offers you a widely number of the topics frame views and subtopics lines styles. Choose the likely frame and lines view and press the Apply button. A map will change its view accordingly to the selected settings.

You can also choose the any image from the disk as a topic background. Click the Select Image button. The standard Open dialog will appear, choose the needed picture in it and press OK. You can see the selected picture in the preview window.

This tab also allows you to choose the line anchor way: outside, center, spread.

If you will call the Format Topics dialog for Callout Topic, it will have the following view:

Alignment

The Alignment tab lets you set the following alignment modes of the text and images relatively each to other:

  • vertical: the image is located left or right to the text and the text is aligned by the top, middle or bottom side of the image;
  • horizontal: the image is located top or bottom to the text and alignment can be maked by the left side, right side or center.

The alignment is applied to the selected text and images, and to the whole document if nothing is selected.

   
Spacing

The Spacing tab allows you to set such topic properties as: margins, padding (distance between the image embedded in the topic and topic text), distance from parent, distance between siblings and preffered text width.

Here you can specify the values for the left, right, top and bottom margins. To make all the margins identica check the Use Left margin to define all four margins and set the value for the left margin.

You can change several topic attributes at the same time. By default, all the changes are applied only to the selected topics.

The Theme drop-down list allows:

  • Reset level to default - to restore the all default settings for the topics of the current level;
  • Apply to current level - to apply the changes to all the topics on the current level.

In the process of formatting, you can use the Apply button to apply the settings to your map without quitting the Format Topics dialog. So you can see your settings fulfilled in the map, and at the same time you will be able to continue formatting.

Once all the settings completed, click OK to close the dialog and format the Mind Map according to your settings.
To quit the dialog at any moment, without saving any settings which were not applied, use the Cancel button.

Note:  To apply the settings to the selected topics only, hold down Shift when clicking Apply or OK.

Various ways of ordering topics at creation of a map

Toolbar

Topics of the created map can be ordered in a certain way. The ordering clockwise from top is taken by default. However, this ordering can be changed.

Just select the suitable way from the drop-down list, called by one of the following ways:

Toolbar Toolbar Clicking the Topic ordering Topic ordering button on the Map Management toolbar.
Menu Menu Choosing the Topic ordering item from the Map menu.

The topics will be rearranged.

ConceptDraw MINDMAP offers you several convenient ways of ordering topics:
