Mind Map Outline
ConceptDraw MINDMAP supports handling and visualizing text data, and offers you powerful features for working with outline.
You can save your Mind Map in the form of textual description, and edit the outline or make use of it outside ConceptDraw MINDMAP. And vice versa, you can use ConceptDraw MINDMAP to generate a Mind Map from its description in a text outline.
The text data is formed in a specific way: in the Outline format. It is intended for storing and constructing tree-like diagrams with a strict hierarchy of the items, and is especially convenient for Mind Maps.
ConceptDraw MINDMAP allows you to work with two text outline types: Indented Outline and Numerated Outline.
When you select a file to import, or specify the filename for the text data, the corresponding dialog appears for you to set the conversion parameters.
Outline Data Format
The Outline Data is a common text file consisting of text lines. Each topic of a Mind Map is put in a separate line. Every new line may start with several Spaces or Tabulation signs which indicate the subordination of the topics.
The Text Outline may include the Hyperlink addresses and the Text Notes of the topics. In the text, they are placed in a separate line and marked by the keywords: ">>Link:" and ">>Note:".
Here you can see a simple example of Text Outline and its graphic representation:

After the outline is converted into a ConceptDraw MINDMAP document, you can view and edit hyperlinks and Text Notes. To modify the hyperlink or Text Note, select the object and call accordingly the Hyperlink or Note dialog (for more details, see the "Using Hyperlinks" and "Text Notes" sections).
You may have several Main Ideas in your Mind Map. In the outline, every new Main Idea is marked by the keywords: ">>New Map". The same occurs if you create a multi-paged Mind Map having several Main Ideas. If you use such an outline to generate a Mind Map, each Main Idea with its topics will be placed on a separate page of the document.
