Callouts
Callouts. Text Notes. Hyperlinks. Background of the map.
ConceptDraw MINDMAP allows you to add to the map additional information in the form of callouts and text notes.
You can use the map you built.

We are now going to add a callout to Keywords on google topic. For this you select the topic, click the Callout button on the Topic Management toolbar and enter the text of the callout.

A callout can be positioned in any place on the map and it will remain connected to the topic it is associated with, the shape of the callout will adapt to its new position.
Sometimes you may need to assign a comment to a topic, but don't want to have it on the map to avoid visual clutter. Use text notes for this. If a topic has a text comment assigned to it, it displays the text comment symbol . The text of the comment can be seen when you hover the mouse over the topic.
Now we are going to add a text note to the Search engines topic. For this:
- Select the topic.
- Activate the Note floating dialog by clicking the corresponding tab or open using the View / Dialogs / Text Note menu command.
- Enter the text note in the floating dialog.
Apart from symbols, objects, images and text notes, you can associate hyperlinks with topics. The hyperlink can link the topic with any file on your computer or on your local network, or with any web page or with any other topic. In ConceptDraw MINDMAP Professional you can even specify a page within the document that you want to jump to by clicking on the hyperlink.
Now we are going to connect Keywords on google topic with the Google web site. To do this:
- Select the topic.
- Activate the Hyperlink floating dialog using the
button on the Topic Management toolbar or clicking the corresponding tab, or open using the View / Dialogs / Hyperlink menu command.
- Choose the item Link to URL and enter the web address of the web site in the text field.
An icon will be added to the topic which the user may click to go to the web page that was inserted in the topic.
Now we are going to change the background color of your map. For this:
- Call the Colors dialog using the Background command from the Format menu or from the map context menu.
- Choose the desired background color.

If you use mind maps to explain your ideas to other people, you may want to display the topics as your thoughts progress. For instance, first you focus the attention of the audience on the main topics (Level 1 topics), and then detail these topics. In ConceptDraw MINDMAP you can use the Show/Hide Topic levels button on the Map Management toolbar to change the detail level of the mind map. For example, choose the item Level 1 from the drop-down list. The appearance of the mind map will change.

To see all levels of the mind map, select the item Show All Topics.
To show / hide subtopics of each specific topic you can use the icons and near the topic.
The bottom line:
- ConceptDraw MINDMAP allows you to add comments to topics in the form of callouts.
- You can assign Text Notes to the topics.
- Topics can have hyperlinks, associated with them.
- ConceptDraw MINDMAP allows you to change the background color of the map and the number of the levels that are displayed.
