Microsoft Office 2003
All the Microsoft Office suite of programs store and maintain a list of the most recently used files (MRU) that you have opened or saved. Whilst this is generally harmless and helps you to get quickly to the files that you are working on, this record is available for anyone who accesses your computer to see.
Delete the stored list of recently opened files in any MS Office program
Click on the MS Office panel of the Privacy Items Windows tab to show the options for your MS Office items (as per screenshot at right) and then choose the from the list of MS Office programs that you'd like to clean and wash by checking the relevant checkboxes.
- Microsoft Access
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft FrontPage
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Office Recent Folder (all programs)
Note: This does not delete the files themselves, just the stored record that you have opened or saved them.
Tip: Move (or hover) the mouse cursor over any privacy washing item on the screen to get further information and a brief description of that item.
