  • Title: Type your preferred title into the 'Title' field to change the default Internet Explorer title (from 'Microsoft Internet Explorer'). Click on the 'Restore' button to reset the title to the default.
  • Start Page: Enter the full internet address (URL) into this field to change your default Internet Explorer home page. Click on the 'Blank Page' button to show a blank page as your home page when starting Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer AutoComplete

As described in the Internet Explorer topic, IE saves both your passwords and previous web form entries as well as trying to 'guess' what you want to do when you type the first few characters. Edit your Internet Explorer settings for IE's default auto-complete behaviour here.

  • AutoSuggest: Check this checkbox to allow Internet Explorer to automatically suggest completed web form entries.
  • AutoSave Password: Check this checkbox to allow Internet Explorer to save your entered passwords.
  • Use FormSuggest: Check this checkbox to allow Internet Explorer to suggest completed web form field entries.
  • Save Password Ask: Check this checkbox to allow Internet Explorer to ask you whether you want to save entered passwords.
Internet Explorer AutoFind
Internet Explorer Edit AutoScan...

If you have activated Internet Explorer's Search from the Address Bar feature, when you type an internet address into Internet Explorer's address bar that IE can not immediately find, IE tries to find sites with a similar name, but different suffix. For example, www.pointstone.biz doesn't exist and if you enter this address IE's address bar, it would normally display an error page. However, if you've enabled this feature, IE will try to find the site you're looking for by substituting common suffixes (such as .com, .edu, .net, .org etc.). In this manner, the correct address (www.pointstone.com) would be found and displayed by IE.

  • To find out more about activating this feature, see this Internet Explorer help topic

With Total Privacy you can edit the suffixes and order to search when you have enabled this IE feature. Click on the 'Edit AutoScan...' button and select from the following options...

  • Add: Should you wish to add another suffix to search, simply type this into the Template field in the format 'www.%s.xxx', where '%s' is a variable that represents any web site and 'xxx' is the additional suffix that you want to search for (replace 'xxx' with your suffix - e.g. 'biz'). Click on the 'Add' button and you'll note that the new internet suffix is added to the listing.
  • Delete: To remove suffixes that you do not want searched, simply select the relevant suffix and click on the 'Delete' button.
  • Modify: To edit or modify the internet suffixes to be searched, select the suffix to be modified and click on the 'Modify' button and then edit as desired in the Template field. Click on 'Ok' when finished.
  • Move up: Move an entry up in your search order, by selecting it in the listing and then clicking on the 'Move up' button until it is shown in the desired position.
  • Move down: Move an entry down in your search order, by selecting it in the listing and then clicking on the 'Move down' button until it is shown in the desired position.
Internet Explorer Paths

You can quickly amend the default paths used by Internet Explorer to save and download files from the internet as follows...

  • Save: Click on the 'Ellipsis' (...) button to select the folder on your file system where Internet Explorer should save files to.
  • Download: Click on the 'Ellipsis' (...) button to select the folder on your file system where Internet Explorer should download files to.
