Making Folders Visible/Invisible

Making your Private folders invisible

Your Private folders (and their files) are invisible from the time you start your computer until the time your computer is turned off unless you deliberately make them visible as explained below.

Hiding and Unhiding your Private folders

To unhide your Private folders/files run Magic Folders (in the Accessories group), or press the hot-key you assigned Magic Folders during installation, enter your password, and then click the "Un-hide" button in the upper right of the main screen. This gives you instant, complete, and normal access to all your files, including the files in your Private folder List.

(If in the Configure/Properties section you have selected "Put hide and unhide icon on system tray" you can just click the closed-safe icon in the System Tray to start Magic Folders and get the password screen.)

As a shortcut you can just press the End key after entering your password instead of pressing Enter. This un-hides your folders and exits, without taking you to the main screen.

You can also just enter your password and click on the yellow open-safe icon on the password screen. This grants you access without taking you into the full program. Depending on your settings it can also put an icon on the Taskbar or System Tray that you can click to instantly hide your folders without having to start Magic Folders again. (You can turn off this "icon on the taskbar" feature in the "Configure/Properties" section)

Likewise, to make your magic folders invisible again just click on the open-safe icon on the System Tray. You can also run Magic Folders, enter your password and click the "Hide" button in the upper right or use the shortcut and just click on the Cancel button when prompted for your password. Your magic folders also become invisible again if your re-boot or turn off your computer.
