Enhancing Photos

This tutorial illustrates enhancing a dull photo by adjusting levels, gamma and saturation.

Open "sunflowers.tif" file located in "tutorial" folder

Adjust Levels

Choose "Image" > "Adjust" > "Levels". Set White point to 189. A histogram illustrates the distribution of light tones in the picture. By adjusting levels you will remove unused part of the tonal range from the histogram and increase contrast of the picture.

Adjust Gamma

Choose "Image" > "Adjust" > "Gamma". Set gamma value to 1.40. By adjusting gamma value you can control brightness of midtones without affecting highlights and shadows.

Increase Saturation

Choose "Image" > "Adjust" > "Saturation". Increase saturation by 65.

Sharpen

Choose "Image" > "Sharpen more" to bring more details to your picture
