File Menu

This menu contains all the functions related to files such as opening and saving files, importing and scanning files, printing files, configuration of the program's options and more.

NewNew

Pressing this sub-menu will open the New Image dialog box which is used to create a new blank picture.

The New Image Dialog Box is used to create a new blank picture. The dialog box contains a number of commands through which it is possible to define the characteristics of the new picture:

  • Width - Defines the width of the picture.
  • Height - Defines the height of the picture.
  • Units Dropdown Box A selection box through which you may select which units will be used to define the Height and Width values.
  • Resolution - Defines the resolution of the new picture.
  • New Image Color/Style Box:
    • Color Option - Shows a selection box through which it is possible to select the color of the new picture.
    • Style (Advanced) Option - Allows you to select custom style of the new picture. For more info about styles please click here.
    • In order to complete the process, you must press the OK button. In order to cancel the process, press the Cancel button.

To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the New sub-menu.

OpenOpen

This sub-menu is used to open existing picture files for editing purposes. Pressing on this sub-menu will present the Open dialog box where you can select the picture file you wish to open. The Open dialog box is a standard Windows Common Dialog Box which has been added a number of additional options:

  • Image Preview Box: In case the Preview checkbox is marked (default), a reduced picture of the file chosen will appear in the box when thumbing through the picture files.
  • Preview Checkbox: When this box is marked (default), a preview of the file chosen when thumbing through the file list will appear in the Image Preview Box.
  • Zoom Dropdown Box: With this box you can select the ratio of presentation of the Image Preview Box. The ratio is in percentage and in proportion to the size of the original picture. The Fit option (default) will best define the ratio of presentation enabling the most optimal view in the Image Preview.
  • Preview Button: Pressing this button will open a new window where the selected file can be previewed.
    Animate Button: This button is used to preview picture files with more than a single frame.
    To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Open sub-menu.

Save Save

Pressing this sub-menu will save the existing picture.

To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Save sub-menu.

Save As Save As

Pressing this button will open the Save As dialog box used to save a new copy of the picture being worked on (the active picture). It is possible to save the new picture with a new name and/or a new format. The Save As dialog box is a standard Windows Common Dialog Box which has been added a number of additional options:

  • Image Preview Box: In case the Preview checkbox is marked (default), a reduced picture of the file chosen will appear in the box when thumbing through the picture files.
  • Preview Checkbox: When this box is marked (default), a preview of the file chosen when thumbing through the file list will appear in the Image Preview Box.
  • Zoom Dropdown Box: With this box you can select the ratio of presentation of the Image Preview Box. The ratio is in percentage and in proportion to the size of the original picture. The Fit option (default) will best define the ratio of presentation enabling the most optimal view in the Image Preview.
  • Preview Button: Pressing this button will open a new window where the selected file can be previewed.
    Animate Button: This button is used to preview picture files with more than a single frame.
  • Advanced Button: With this button you can change the properties of the picture file about to be saved (such as compression level, quantity of colors in the file, etc.) Pressing this button will open a window containing the file's properties, allowing you to edit them if needed (the properties shown depend on the type of file saved).
    To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Save As sub-menu.

Set File Password

With this function you can set a password for fpos file types (the file format of the Photo Pos Pro software. The function is only available when the file type of the picture is the aforementioned fpos). Pressing the sub-menu will open a dialog box through which it is possible to define/change/cancel the file's password. In order to perform the desired operation, you must follow the directions that appear on the screen. The definition/change/cancellation of the file's password will only take effect after the file's next save.

To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Set File Password sub-menu.

BrowseBrowse

Pressing this sub-menu will open the picture browser window with which you can browse through directories and preview the pictures inside them (pictures will appear as thumbnails). For more detail on the picture browser, press here.

To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Browse sub-menu.

Acquire Acquire

This sub-menu (function) is used to import pictures from digital devices (such as scanners and digital cameras) that work with the Twain interface. Pressing this sub-menu will open the device interface (defined by default) in order import pictures (for example: if you have a scanner installed on your computer, press this sub-menu to scan a picture on to your computer). In case more than one device supporting the Twain interface is installed on your computer (for instance a computer with both a scanner and a digital camera) you can select the device you wish to import from using the Select Twain Source sub-menu. The program supports only picture files. It is not possible to import into the program a picture file containing unique additives such as sound. In case there is an attempt to import a picture containing unique additives such as sound, usually, only the picture will be imported to the program.

To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Acquire sub-menu.

Select Twain Source

Pressing this sub-menu will open a dialog box where you can select a digital device (such as a scanner or a digital camera, etc.) that works with the Twain interface. After selecting the device with the dialog box, that device will become the default device. In order to import pictures from the device use the Acquire function.

To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Select Twain Source sub-menu.

Options

Pressing this sub-menu will open the program's options dialog box.

The Options Dialog Box - is used to set the programs characteristics. Through this dialog box it is possible to control many properties of the program (such as number of actions to be saved in History, Window characteristics, selection characteristics and more).

  • General Tab - This card-index includes the definitions of general characteristics of the program.
    Auto Fit Image To Window On Load Checkbox - When this box is marked, the size of the Zoom will be automatically set in such a way as to display the picture in the window in the best way possible.
    • Auto Fit Window to Image on Zoom - When this box is marked, the picture's window size will automatically change according to the Zoom.
    • Max. Undo/Redo Actions - Defines the (maximum) number of actions to be saved in the Undo/Redo Buffer's History.
    • Default File Background Color - Defines the default background color that will be use instead of transparent areas in image when saving the image under a file format/mode that does not support transparency.
    • Default Button - Reconstructs the default values of the settings in the General card-index.
  • Selection Tab - This card-index includes the definitions of the selection characteristics.
    • Color 1 and Color 2 - define the color of the lines that surround the selection ("Line Selection"). In order to change color you must click on it and select another color in its place.
      Animated Checkbox - When an area on the picture is selected and this box is marked, the lines surrounding the selection will appear as animated similar to "running lights". Unmarking this box will cause the display of the lines without animation (i.e. a broken line).
    • Default Button - Reconstructs the default values of the settings in the General card-index.
  • Grid Tab - This card-index contains the settings of the Grid characteristics.
    Horizontal Intervals, Vertical Intervals - Define the spaces between the Grid lines (the Grid density).
    Color - Defines the color of the Grid (to change the color, click on it and select a new color in its place).
    Default Button - Reconstructs the default values of the settings in the General card-index.
  • View Tab - This card-index enables you to select which toolbars and dialog boxes will be displayed on the screen. The card-index is identical to the Toolbars and Dialog Boxes dialog box.
    In order to complete the process, you must press the OK button. In order to cancel the process, press the Cancel button. To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Options sub-menu.

PrintPrint

Pressing this sub-menu will open the print preview dialog box.
To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Print sub-menu.

Page Setup

Pressing this sub-menu will open the page (print) setup dialog box.

To get to this sub-menu, select the File menu and then select the Page Setup sub-menu.
