Text Tool
The Text tool allows to add text to the image.
The following steps show how to activate and use this tool:
- On the Drawing Tools box, click the Text button.
In response to this action, the tool becomes activated. The Option Selector box shows the tool's options, and the Text Tool window opens:

- In the Option Selector box, select the background's type for the text. Do one of the following:
- Click the Opaque Background
button, to make the background of the text opaque.
- Click the Transparent Background
button, to make the background of the text transparent.
- Note. The background's type for the text can be changed anytime while the tool is activated.
- In the image, select the area (rectangular area) where you want the text to be displayed. To do this, perform the following:
- Click the image on the starting point of the area you want to select.
- Holding the mouse button down, drag the cursor to the diagonally opposite point (final point).
- Release the mouse button.
Note. If you do not select an area manually, the text is displayed in the upper-left corner of the visible part of the image.
- Select tool's color (foreground color). See the "Foreground and Background colors" page for details.
- In the Text Tool window, perform the following steps:
- Enter the text in the edit box.
- To change the text's font, size and/or style, click the Font button.
The text you enter is automatically displayed in the selected area of the image.
Notes.
- You can select a new area to enter a new text.
- You can perform the following manipulations with the selection that displays the text:
- Move it to a new location of the image. To do this, click inside the selected area and holding down the mouse button, drag the selection to the new place.
- To turn off the selection, do one of the following:
- Click the image inside it (without dragging);
- Click the image outside it.
