Search For Icon, Cursor & Bitmap
- Do one of the following:
- On the File menu, click Search.
- Press Ctrl + E.
In response to any of these actions, the Search Image window opens:

- In the Directory box, type the directory to look in.
- To perform the search in the specified directory and in all its subdirectories, check the Recursive box.
- In the File Extensions group, check the boxes corresponding to the file extensions you want to look for.
Note. To search for image resources in .EXE, .DLL, and .OCX files, check the corresponding file extensions.
- Click the OK button.
In response to this action, the View Search Results window opens:

- In this window you can perform the following actions:
- Browse through the images. To do this,
- Use the arrow buttons in the toolbar (), or
- Use the Page Up, Page Down, Home, End and arrow keys on the keyboard, or
- Click on the image record you want to view.
- Note. You cannot edit the selected image directly in this window. To edit the image you have to open it for editing (see the next clause).
- Open the selected image for editing. To do this,
- On the toolbar, click the Open for editing button
, or
- Double click the image or the image record.
- Note. The current version of Paint Express does not allow to directly edit the image resources from .EXE, .DLL, or .OCX files. If the selected image is a resource in the .EXE, .DLL, or .OCX file it always opens in the editor as a new image file (icon, cursor, or bitmap, based on the type of the resource) with a default file name.
- Save the selected image. To do this,
- On the File menu, click Save, or
- On the File menu, click Save As, or
- On the main toolbar, click the Save
button , or
- Press Ctrl + S.
- Sort the search results. To do this, click on the header of the column you want to sort by.
- Zoom the selected image. See the "Zooming" page for details.
- Show/hide the grid for the selected image. See the "Show/hide the grid" page for details.
- Filter the search results. To do this, click the Filter
button.
In response to this action, the Filter window opens:

- Based on your requirements, check the appropriate boxes and/or set the necessary values in the boxes.
Note. There is the following correspondence between the groups of the Filter window and the list columns of the View Search Results window:
- The Image Type group corresponds to the Image Type column;
- The Width group corresponds to the Width column;
- The Height group corresponds to the Height column;
- The Color Depth group corresponds to the Color Depth column;
- The File Formats group corresponds to the File Type column;
- The File Extensions group corresponds to the File Ext column.
- Click the OK button.
- Undo all filters. To do this, click the Undo all filters
button.
