Pencil & Brush Tool
Pencil tool
The Pencil tool allows to draw freehand lines in a constant width of one pixel.
The following steps show how to activate and use this tool:
- On the Drawing Tools box, click the Pencil
button.
In response to this action, the tool becomes activated.

- Select tool's colors (foreground and background colors). See the "Foreground and Background colors" page for details.
- Click the image where you want the freehand line to start.
- To draw with the foreground color, use the left mouse button.
- To draw with the background color, use the right mouse button.
- Holding the mouse button down, drag the Pencil over the desired area of the image.
- Release the mouse button to end the freeform line.
Brush tool
The Brush tool allows to paint an area of the image with different brush color, shape and size.
The following steps show how to activate and use this tool:
- On the Drawing Tools box, click the Brush
button.
In response to this action, the tool becomes activated. The Option Selector box shows all available shapes and sizes of the Brush tool:

- In the Option Selector box, select the appropriate shape and size of the Brush tool.
Note. The Brush tool's shape and size can be changed anytime while the tool is activated.
- Select tool's colors (foreground and background colors). See the "Foreground and Background colors" page for details.
- Click the image where you want the brush stroke to start.
- To draw with the foreground color, click the left mouse button.
- To draw with the background color, click the right mouse button.
- Holding the mouse button down, drag the brush over the desired area of the image.
- Release the mouse button to end the brush stroke.
