In the Apply Palette group, select the method to apply a new palette to 1, 4, and 8-bit images.

  • Matching the nearest color - changes each color in the image to the color in the palette that is the closest match.
  • Maintaining indexes - assigns each color in the palette a sequential index number, does the same for the colors in the image, and then changes each color in the image to the like-numbered color in the palette. This can cause radical color changes.
  • Dithering colors - involves color dithering for those colors that are not in the palette.
Note. The selected method has effect when Loading a palette from file, when Restoring the default palette, and when Modifying a color from palette.

Click the OK button.

Note. Click the Reset Defaults button if you want to set the default values.
