Load, Save & Restore Palette

To load a palette from file

  • Do one of the following:
    • On the Color menu, click Load Palette.
    • On the Color box toolbar, click the Load Palette button.
    • Right-click on the Color box to display the pop-up menu. On the pop-up menu, click Load Palette.
  • In response to any of these actions, the Open window opens:

  • In the Look in box, select the folder that your palette file is in.
  • From the files list, select the palette file you want to open, or type the name of the file in the File name box.
  • Click the Open button.

Notes.

  • The loaded palette is displayed in the Palette box.
  • If the current image is 1, 4, or 8-bit image, loading a new palette causes all colors in the current image to be remapped using the new palette. Remapping is performed based on the method selected in the Apply Palette group in the Palette Options window.
  • Paint Express does not allow to change the palette for 1 and 4-bit images in icons and cursors.

To save the current palette

  • Do one of the following:
    • On the Color menu, click Save Palette.
    • On the Color box toolbar, click the Save Palette button.
    • Right-click on the Color box to display the pop-up menu. On the pop-up menu, click Save Palette.
  • In response to any of these actions, the Save As window opens:

  • In the Save in box, select the folder where you want to save the palette file.
  • In the File name box, type the name for the palette file.
  • Click the Save button.

To restore the default palette

Do one of the following:

  • On the Color menu, click Restore Default Palette.
  • On the Color box toolbar, click the Restore Default Palette button.
  • Right-click on the Color box to display the pop-up menu. On the pop-up menu, click Restore Default Palette.

Notes.

  • The restored palette is displayed in the Palette box.
  • If the current image is 1, 4, or 8-bit image, restoring the default palette causes all colors in the current image to be remapped using the new palette. Remapping is performed based on the method selected in the Apply Palette group in the Palette Options window.
