Foreground & Background Colors
There are two active drawing colors: foreground and background.
Current foreground and background colors are displayed in the Active Colors box:

There are two ways to set the foreground and background colors: from the Color box and by using the Pick Color tool:
- To set the foreground and background colors from the Color box, do the following:
- To set the foreground color, left-click on the necessary color swatch in the Palette box, or in the Screen and Inverse Colors box.
- To set the background color, right-click on the necessary color swatch in the Palette box, or in the Screen and Inverse Colors box.
- Note. When editing a 32-bit image, you can also set the opacity for foreground and background colors. See the "Color box" page for details.
- To pick up a color from the image and set it as foreground/background color use the Pick Color tool.
- Note. When picking up a color from a 32-bit image, you also get the color's opacity.
Foreground and/or background colors are used with the following drawing tools: Selection, Eraser, Color Replacer, Pencil, Brush, Text, Fill With Color, Line, Rectangle, Round Rectangle, and Ellipse. You can reset the foreground and background colors from the Color box anytime while any of the above drawing tool is activated.
You can modify the foreground and background colors. See the "Modify a color" page for details.
Notes.
- The background color is used to fill the newly created 1, 4, 8 and 24-bit bitmaps. See the "Create a new icon, cursor, or bitmap" page for details.
- When drawing in a 32-bit image with a color with opacity less then 255 (100%), the drawing color is blended with the color of the underlying image.
