Editing Icon, Cursor & Bitmap
The current version of Paint Express allows to edit icons, cursors and bitmaps.
To edit the opened icon, cursor, or bitmap, use the following windows:
- Image Edit window (1). It displays the image that can be edited. All editing operations have to be performed in this window.
- Thumbnails window (2). It is displayed only for icons/cursors and shows the thumbnails of all images included in the icon/cursor. Use this window to select for editing the necessary image from the icon/cursor.
- Drawing Tools box (3). Use this window to activate the necessary drawing tool.
- Color box (4). Use this wind
- ow to select the necessary colors for drawing.
All these windows are marked in the images below:

Image Edit window
The Image Edit window displays the image that you can edit:
- For bitmaps, it displays the bitmap itself.
- For icons/cursors, it displays the selected image in the icon/cursor. See the "Select an image from icon/cursor for editing" page for more information.
You can perform the following editing operations on the image displayed in the Image Edit window:
- Modify the image by using any available drawing tools.
- Modify the image by applying any available filters and/or effects.
- Paste into it an image from the clipboard.
- Select the entire image, or a part of it.
- Copy or cut the selection to the clipboard.
- Move the selection within the image.
- Erase the selection.
- Change the size of the image.
- Undo/redo the changes.
You can use the additional functionality specific only for icons and cursors:
- Add a new format image to the icon/cursor.
- Delete an image from the icon/cursor.
- Move an image within the icon/cursor.
- Set cursor's hot spot.
You can also use the following functionality for the image displayed in the Image Edit window:
- Show/hide the grid.
- Zoom the image.
