Clipboard Manipulations: Copy, cut, and paste functionality
To copy the selected area of the image, do one of the following:
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Press Ctrl + C.
- On the toolbar, click the Copy
button.
To cut the selected area of the image, do one of the following:
- On the Edit menu, click Cut.
- Press Ctrl + X.
- Press Shift + Delete.
- On the toolbar, click the Cut
button.
- Note. The following color is used to fill the cleared area:
- For 1, 4, 8, and 24-bit bitmaps - the current background color. See the "Foreground and Background colors" page for details.
- For icons, cursors, and 32-bit bitmaps - the current screen color. See the "Screen and Inverse colors" page for details.
To paste the clipboard image into the current image using default pasting options (Regular Pasting), do one of the following:
- On the Edit menu, click Paste.
- Press Ctrl + V.
- Press Shift + Insert.
- On the toolbar, click the Paste
button.
- Note. Regular Pasting is always performed at scale 1:1, using default pasting options. See "Change custom pasting options" page for details.
To paste the clipboard image into the current image using custom pasting options (Custom Pasting), do one of the following:
- On the Edit menu, click Paste with Options.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + V.
In response to any of these actions, the Paste with Options window opens:

The current image's color depth and type are displayed in the title of the window.
The current image's width and height are displayed in the corresponding boxes in the Current Image Size group.
The clipboard image's width and height are displayed in the corresponding boxes in the Clipboard Image Size group.
To paste, perform the following:
- In the Clipboard Image Scaling group, choose the necessary scaling option for the clipboard image.
- To change current custom pasting options, click the Options... button. See "Change custom pasting options" page for details.
- Click the OK button.
Note. The pasted image appears selected in the upper-left corner of the editing image.
Remember.
- If the background type is set to transparent and the pasting image contains portions filled with the same color as the background color, those portions become transparent.
- To change the appearance of the pasted image, change the background color or the background type while the pasted image is selected.
- To not loose any color from the pasting image, do one of the following:
- set the background color to a color that the pasting image doesn't contain, or
- set the background color to the screen color when pasting to icons, cursors or 32-bit bitmaps, or
- set the background type to opaque.
Undo/redo functionality
You can undo/redo up to 20 changes made to the image displayed in the Image Edit window.
To undo the last action, do one of the following:
- On the Edit menu, click Undo.
- Press Ctrl + Z.
- On the toolbar, click the Undo
button.
To redo the previously undone action, do one of the following:
- On the Edit menu, click Redo.
- Press Ctrl + Y.
- On the toolbar, click the Redo
button.
