Capturing Image
The current version of Paint Express allows to capture:
- The entire screen (desktop);
- A separate window on the screen;
- A rectangular region of a custom size on the screen;
- A rectangular region of a fixed size on the screen.
Before starting the capturing, put the screen on your computer monitor, return to Paint Express and select the proper capture option. Paint Express starts the capturing process by minimizing itself. When capturing is finished, Paint Express restores itself down and automatically creates a new 24-bit bitmap that shows the captured image. You can edit, print, and/or save that bitmap.
To capture the entire screen (desktop)
On the Capture menu, click Screen.
In response to this action, Paint Express creates a new 24-bit bitmap that shows the image of the entire screen.
Note. The image of the entire screen includes everything that is currently visible on the desktop: windows, icons, menus, toolbars, etc.
To capture a window from the screen (desktop)

- In response to this action, Paint Express allows you to capture any window from the screen (one at a time), such as: an application window, a dialog, a toolbar, a status bar, etc.
- Move the mouse over the window you want to capture.
- That window becomes outlined.
- Click the mouse to capture the outlined window.
- In result, Paint Express creates a new 24-bit bitmap that shows the image of the visible part of the captured window.
To capture a region from the screen (desktop)

- In response to this action, Paint Express allows you to capture a rectangular region of a custom size from the screen.
- To outline the desired region click the mouse on the starting point of the region and drag it to the diagonally opposite point (final point).
- During this operation you will be able to see the magnifier window.
- Release the mouse to capture the outlined region.
- In result, Paint Express creates a new 24-bit bitmap that shows the image of the outlined region of the screen.
To capture a fixed region from the screen (desktop)
- On the Capture menu, click Fixed Region.
In response to this action, the Set Fixed Region Size window opens:

- In the Width and Height boxes, type the width and height of the fixed rectangular region.
- Check the Remember box if you want to use the same values next time.
- Click the OK button.
In response to this action, a rectangle appears allowing you to capture a rectangular region of a fixed size from the screen.

- Press Shift + Left arrow to decrease the width;
- Press Shift + Right arrow to increase the width;
