Applying Filters
The current version of Paint Express allows to apply the following filters to 32-bit images:
- Smoothing. This filter smoothes the edges of the image. It tones down differences in adjacent pixels, producing a slight loss of detail.
To apply the Smooth filter, on the Draw\Filters menu, click Smooth.
- Blurring. This filter softens the image. It eliminates noise where significant color transitions occur and smoothes them by averaging the pixels next to the hard edges of defined lines and shaded areas in the image. The Blur filter can be used for retouching, to reduce image graininess.
To apply the Blur filter, on the Draw\Filters menu, click Blur.
- Sharpening. This filter improves the clarity of the image. It increases the contrast of adjacent pixels.
To apply the Sharpen filter, on the Draw\Filters menu, click Sharpen.
- Dropping shadow. This filter adds a shadow to the image.
To apply the Drop Shadow filter, on the Draw\Filters menu, click Drop Shadow.
Notes.
- The filter is applied to the entire image, or to the selected area of the image if there is a selection.
- To apply the same filter again, you can press Ctrl + F.
