Adding New Format Image to Icon/Cursor

  • Do one of the following:
    • On the Draw menu, click New Format Image.
    • Press Insert.
    • On the toolbar, click the New Format Image button.
    • Right-click on any image in the Thumbnails window to display the pop-up menu. On the pop-up menu, click New Format Image.

In response to any of these actions, the Add a New Format Image window opens:

Adding New Format Image

  • In the Create From box, select
    • New Image, to create the new image from scratch;
    • Current Image, to create the new image from the current image;
    • Image File, to create the new image from an existing image file;
      • Note. Current version of Paint Express allows to create new images from existing .bmp, .ico, .cur, .png, .jpg, and .jpeg files.
    • Clipboard Image, to create the new image from the clipboard image;
      Note. If the clipboard doesn't contain any image, this option is not available.
  • If you have chosen to create the new image from an existing image file, set the name of that file in the File Name box. In order to do this, use the Brouse ... button to open the standard Open window and choose the file.
  • In the Color Depth group, choose the appropriate color depth for the new image.
  • In the Size group, choose the size of the new image from the selection of predefined sizes (16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48, 128x128), or choose the Custom Size and enter the width and height of the new image in the corresponding boxes (uncheck the Square box if the width and height of the new image are not equal).
    • Note. If you have chosen to create the new image from Current Image, from Image File, or from Clipboard Image, you can get the size of that image and set it automatically in corresponding boxes by clicking the Get width and height of the image button.
  • To save the current state of the window, check the Remember box.
  • If you choose to create the new image from an existing image, you can set additional options. To do this, click the Options... button. See "Change create options" page for details.
    • Note. For simplicity, Options... button is enabled only when necessary.
  • Click the OK button.

Notes.

  • The new format image is not added if the icon/cursor already has an image with the same format (same size and color depth).
  • The newly created image is filled with screen color. See the "Screen and Inverse colors" page for details.
