Adding, Deleting & Modifying Swatch
To add a new swatch
Do one of the following:
- On the Color menu, click New Swatch.
- Right-click on the Color box to display the pop-up menu. On the pop-up menu, click New Swatch.
Note. The new swatch is appended to the end of the palette displayed in the Palette box.
To delete a swatch
- In the Palette box, click (left/right) on the swatch you want to delete.
- Do one of the following:
- On the Color menu, click Delete Swatch.
- Right-click on the Color box to display the pop-up menu. On the pop-up menu, click Delete Swatch.
Modify a color
There are two ways to modify a color:
- Using the Color Modifier box.
Note. For 32-bit images the Color Modifier box is used also to modify color's opacity.
- Using the standard Color window;
To modify a color using the Color Modifier box, perform the following steps:
- In the Color box, make active the color you want to modify. See the "Color box" page for details.
- In the Color Modifier box, select the color model: RGB, or HSB.
- Set the color by dragging the necessary color sliders, or by typing color values directly in the edit boxes.
- Set the color's opacity by dragging the opacity slider, or by typing the opacity value directly in the corresponding edit box.
Notes.
- The opacity slider and edit box are visible only when editing 32-bit images and color's opacity can be set only for 32-bit images.
- You cannot modify the opacity for the screen or inverse color.
To modify a color using the standard Color window, do one of the following:
- In the Palette box, Active Colors box, or in the Screen and Inverse Colors box, double-click on the swatch you want to modify.
- In the Color box, make active the color you want to modify. See the "Color box" page for details.
Then do one of the following:
- On the Color menu, click Modify Color.
- Right-click on the Color box to display the pop-up menu. On the pop-up menu, click Modify Color.
- In result of any of these actions, the standard Color window opens:

- In the Color window, perform the following steps:
- Select the necessary color.
- Click the OK button.
Notes.
If the current image is 1, 4, or 8-bit image, modifying a palette color causes all colors in the current image to be remapped using the modified palette. Remapping is performed based on the method selected in the Apply Palette group in the Palette Options window.
Paint Express does not allow to modify palette colors for 1 and 4-bit images in icons and cursors.
