Making Images Transparent
"Make Transparent" command is very useful for converting grayscale bitmaps to transparent monochrome images. Example:
Converting a grayscale logo of a company "Supermedia" to transparent yellow:
After the logo has been imported, the image is opaque:

To make this image transparent:
- select the image with the pointer tool
- select desired foreground color (yellow in this case)
- choose Make Transparent command from the Image menu
The bitmap will become transparent. Transparency mask is based on image grayscale, white pixels become transparent and black are filled with current foreground color. Transparency mask is anti-aliased and, like grayscale, it has 256 levels of transparency. It ensures that the image is soft and has no sharp edges:

Transparent with "Cut Out" command

"Image" > "Cut Out" converts all white pixels to transparency:
- Transparent with Eraser tool bucket mode
- To make part of the bitmap having the same color transparent choose "Eraser" tool, hold SHIFT and click inside the area to erase. The area will be filled with transparency using "bucket fill".
