Working With Projects
We recommend that you use projects when you have to compare the same files frequently or periodically. Projects allow for setting pair comparison parameters, saving and storing the parameters and quick loading them.
A project consists of several pages (tabs); each of them can be based on individual parameters for comparing: file names, sheet names, comparison ranges, etc. The number of pages is not limited. You can open only one project at a time. Excel Compare saves a project file name when you exit Excel Compare. When you later start Excel Compare, this project is opened.
Commands
- Open Project... - displays the Open dialog box. Use the Open dialog box to load an existing project file into the Excel Compare. If a project is open when you select Project|Open..., Excel Compare prompts you to save any changes made to the current project.
- Reopen - reopens a recently closed project. When you save a project, it is added to the Reopen list.
- Save Project - to store changes made to all pages included in the open project. If you try to save a project that has an unsaved project file, Excel Compare opens the Save As Dialog box where you enter the new file name.
- Save Project As... - saves the project file (.ECP file) to a new name or location. Use the Save As Dialog box to change the project file name or to save the project in a new location.
- Project Options... - displays the Project Options dialog box. Use the pages of this dialog box to specify comparison methods, comparison options, report options and macros for your project. You can change the options of the current project, or the default properties for new projects. If there is no project currently open, you can only change the default properties.
- Compare All - compares all the files of the current project.
- Add Page - adds a new empty page to the project.
- Rename Page - renames the current page.
- Remove Page - removes the current page.
- Remove All Page - removes all pages of the current project.
- New Project - creates a new project with one page.
