Setup Administration
Here is an object illustration of how Drill-Down Tally keeps track of a gateway
setup file (.ddt) and your reports.

Below is the setup file for the Microsoft Access™ Sample Quotes PO application that comes with Drill-Down Tally. It is a sample application that lets you experiment with Drill-Down Tally's powerful and flexible features. This Microsoft Access application actually has many more tables and queries defined in its database. Click the [Tables] and [Queries] options to see all the applications objects. But, this gateway only exposes two query objects to the Drill-Down Tally reporting program for users to base reports on. You can see them listed in the lower portion of the screenshot below.
You can create a Drill-Down Tally gateway file (.ddt) to access your own data by choosing the menu option [File] [Gateway File Setup...]. A wizard will help you fill in the settings by entering your file or database location information in the top portion of the screen while you enter table, query and report dataset information in the bottom portion of the screen. You can think of the Gateway File Setup file (.ddt) as just a reference file pointing to existing databases or data files. The .gateway ddt file only contains pointers to where the data resides and what data to interact with. Thus, we need to know where the data is located (top portion). And second we need to know what tables, queries and report datasets you want your users to base reports on (lower portion).
