Help

Here's where you name the Drill-Down Tally gateway file (.ddt). A suggestive message to help you keep a consistent naming convention with your MS Access filename. No need to add the file extension. Drill-Down Tally will automatically add .ddt to the filename your give it. When finished, click [OK].

Create

Enter your filename for the Drill-Down Tally gateway here. We suggest you put the .ddt file in the same directory as the MS Access file. We also suggest you give it the same name as the MS Access filename without the .mdb extension that you want to create reports from. In the example above we are going to create reports from the Home Building.mdb. So we first find the directory where the Home Building.mdb is located. Then we enter Home Building for the name of the Drill-Down Tally gateway filename without the extension. When finished, click [Open].

 MDB Access Setup Wizard

Enter the MS Access.mdb file here. You can use the [...] to help find it. Click [Next] to continue.

MDB Access Setup Wizard

If you have a security module (.mdw) file setup for your Access file then click [Yes] or else click [No]. Click [Next] to continue.

MDB Access Setup Wizard

Select all the queries and tables you want to expose to your users. These will show up as the name of DataSets within the Drill-Down Tally program to base reports on. Click [OK] to continue.

Information

You will see the wizard enter all the necessary Drill-Down Tally gateway settings needed to access your data from the MS Access file you just setup. Click [OK] to continue.

Field Description

You can study the entries that the wizard created for you. You could enter these yourself without the wizard. When you're ready you can add new table or query entries to the end of the list when needed or change the current entries. Click the [Close] button when you are done.

Confirm

Drill-Down Tally creates the necessary gateway files to access data from your setup information. If we want to use this as the default gateway to open when you start Drill-Down Tally, click [Yes] here. You can always change the setting to open up other gateway files by going to menu option [File] [Settings] and changing the Gateway File Name entry. For the most part you will choose [Yes] and Drill-Down Tally will automatically add this to the Gateway File Name list and open this file the next time you startup Drill-Down Tally.
