Steps for Drill-Down Tally/QuickBooks/MS Excel success:

  1. First export the desired custom report to Excel from within QuickBooks with these options.
    a) Do not include headers rows or date fields.
    b) The report shouldn't have group subtotals.
    c) The report should only include detail records with the field names.
  2. After the QuickBooks export, open the Excel file and delete any header rows.
  3. Delete any header columns, so that you only have field names on the first row and your data under it.
  4. Delete any beginning blank rows just below the field names.
  5. Delete the very last Totals row at the very bottom of the data.
  6. Save the file and close MS Excel.
  7. Open Drill-Down Tally and click menu option [File] [Gateway File Setup...]
  8. Then follow the steps on MS Excel setup by clicking Drill-Down Tally/MS Excel gateway setup.

Note: Once you have this MS Excel file setup you can overwrite it with new exports to the same file name without going through another MS Excel gateway setup to it. You must do steps 1-6 after each export from QuickBooks. Steps 7-8 only need to be done once for each Excel file/worksheet you export from QuickBooks.

You can setup as many exported Excel or csv files as you want within one Drill-Down Tally gateway application. Plus, you can create an unlimited amount of gateway applications and add as many Tables, Queries and Report Dataset entries as you want to these Drill-Down Tally gateways.

Get the reports you want out of Drill-Down Tally that can't get out of your current application.
