TCP Ports

To change the preferences for the TCP Ports scanner, select the menu:

  • File, Discovery Options, or click on the Discovery Optionsbutton in the File toolbar (a green screwdriver)
  • Then choose the TCP Ports tab

The following values can be set:

deleted partition restore notebook recovery password recovery software
restore usb formatted usb drive recovery digital photos unerase
free data recovery program data recovery utilities download download file recovery software
  1. Standard:
    • Ftp, Telnet, Smtp, Http, Pop: For each of these ports, you choose whether to analyze it or not.
  2. Custom:
    • You can choose three additional ports. Click on #1, #2 and/or #3. You have then to specify the port Number and a descriptive Name for these ports. For example, enable the #1 checkbox, type 17 in the port number and Quote in the name field.
    • Analyzing a port means NetworkView will try to find useful text information from the port. The process tries to get the most significant information when speaking with the port (for example, HTTP extracts the title of the default web page (text between <title></title>).
  3. TCP Port scan: the range of ports to scan during discovery. Only the existence of the ports is checked.
Use a single number for a single port : 80
Use the - (dash) to specify a continuous sequence of ports: 80-82
Use the , (comma) to separate single ports and sequences : 53, 80-82, 119, 1494-1496
Spaces are allowed in the string, any combination possible.
  4. Timeout: timeout in milliseconds for all scanning options.
