Product Design
NetworkView was designed with these few basic ideas:
- Be simple, be practical, be quick, be powerful !
- Use as few files as possible: one exe file, no DLL of our own, one preferences file (see NetworkView Files).
- Be as small as possible to be used everywhere, on every network, and also from USB key (see how to Prepare a USB key)
- Do not touch or modify in any way the system on which it will run (registry, menus...)
- Do not rely on any external database system (ADO, DAO, ODBC, SQL)
- Have a maximum number of enterprises and devices for SNMP and MAC addresses detection
- Make it possible to correct manually everything that was not discovered properly
- Get as much information on the nodes as possible
