View Data

You can select Browser Mode, Filter or Properties under View menu item to view the data in other way.

Browser Mode

Use the web browser to view the data. The program saves the data to a temporary HTML or XML file, then opens it using the default web browser in your system.

If XML files are opened by IE browser, Microsoft's XML parser MSXML 3.0 or higher version is required to be installed. You may download it from Microsoft site. It's recommended that IE users update to 6.0 or higher so to correctly browse XML file saved by LanHelper version 1.40 or higher.

Besides XML mode, version 1.46 added HTML mode, which is compliant for all web browsers.

Properties

The Properties dialog shows the detailed information of the selected items, includes the ones that aren't shown in the main window such as SNMP and comment of the shared resource. Here the program would automatically identify the vendor of network card according to the MAC address.

In properties window, you can modify most data.

Filter

Filter the data in the list by type. If the general option "Show filter results in Filter dialog (v1.0)" is turned off, the filter results will be directly displayed in the main window. Otherwise the filter results are displayed in the Filter dialog in where you can save them to a text file.

Since the interface was improved, now the program only provides 6 filter methods.

  1. <None>: Quit filtering, restore to the original data.

  3. Hidden share: Only the hidden shared resources are displayed in Share column.
  4. Password share: Only the shared resources protected by password are displayed in Share column.
  5. ReadOnly share: Only the read-only shared resources are displayed in Share column.
  6. Printer: Only the shared printers are displayed in Share column.
