Network Management

Refresh Status

  • First load the XML file that contained machine data, if no machine data is in the list of the main window.
  • To check whether the IP addresses are active or not, select "Tools > Refresh Status > Refresh By IP" from the menu bar.
  • To check whether the computers are active or not, select "Tools > Refresh Status > Refresh By Name" from the menu bar.
  • After finish refreshing, from the Status column of the list you can find which computers are online (identified as "alive"), and which computers are offline (identified as "---").
  • If some computers' IP addresses or computer names have changed, click "Refresh By IP And Update Name" or "Refresh By Name And Update IP" to get latest statues and automatically update data.

Abort Remote Shutdown

Select one or more computers in the main window, click "Tools > Abort Remote Shutdown" from the menu bar to cancel the shutdown progress that scheduling on the selected computers. That is, while the system shutdown dialog box is visible, you can use this function to abort.

Remote Shutdown

  • Select one or more computers in the main window, click "Tools > Remote Shutdown" from the menu bar. The Remote Shutdown dialog would then display.
  • Generally it requires privilege of Domain Administrator or Local Administrator to a remote computer to perform this operation. If you haven't, click Remote Logon Settings button. In Security Credentials dialog, select "Specify credentials" from Security Credentials drop-down list, and then enter username and password of an administrator account into corresponding fields.
  • In Action drop-down list, Select Shutdown to perform remote shutdown, or select Restart to perform remote reboot. Select Abort to stop shutdown or reboot scheduling on remote computers. Set the value of Delay Time option to zero if you want to shutdown immediately. Then click Ok button.
  • To schedule a shutdown task to run later or at other time, click the Schedule tab, select one of the four schedule modes: Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Once. Then set time and/or date, then click the Submit button.

Remote Execute

  • Using this function to schedule commands or programs to run on remote computers.
  • Select one or more computers in the main window, click "Tools > Remote Execute" from the menu bar. The Remote Execute window would then display.
  • Generally it requires privilege of Domain Administrator or Local Administrator to a remote computer to perform this operation. If you haven't, click Settings button. In Security Credentials dialog, select "Specify credentials" in Security Credentials drop-down list, and then enter username and password of an administrator account into corresponding fields.
  • In Command field, enter a command you want to run or a file name you want to open. In Schedule Settings field, select one of the four schedule modes: Start Task Today, Start Task Tomorrow, Start Task At, Start Task After. Then specify the time and/or date when you want to start the task. Clear the check box "Interact with the desktop when task run" if you want to "hide" the visible window or dialog of this task. Then click Submit button.
  • To execute LanHelper Integrated Command, which is integrated in LanHelper and enhance the network management, on remote computers, just select the check box "Use LanHelper Integrated Command" to make the window visible and then you can select one or more LanHelper Integrated Commands.   • To view or delete scheduled tasks, click the View tab. Click View Tasks button to enumerate tasks on all specified computers. Select one or more returned scheduled tasks, then click Delete Tasks button to remove them from the owner computers.

Send Message

  • Using this function to send network message to other computers.
  • This function provides many batch send modes. Select one send mode, specify the receivers in Send To field, enter what you want to send in Message Text field, then click Send button. In the Log tab it will show you who have receive the message, and who haven't.
  • If the send mode is "Selected Computers" or "Specify Computers", you should enter computer names or IP addresses into Send To field. If the send mode is "Selected Workgroups" or "Specify Workgroups", you should enter workgroup names into Send To field.

Services

  • Using this function to manage Windows services on remote computers.
  • Select one or more computers in the main window, click "NT-Utilities > Services" from the menu bar. The Service window would then display.
  • Generally it requires privilege of Domain Administrator or Local Administrator to a remote computer to perform this operation. If you haven't, click Settings button. In Security Credentials dialog, select "Specify credentials" in Security Credentials drop-down list, and then enter username and password of an administrator account into corresponding fields.
  • First select what you want to do in Action field: View Service, Start Service, Stop Service, Pause Service, Continue Service, Restart Service, Startup Type or Delete Service. Then Enter the service names in the Service Name field. Do not use service display name here. If the action is View Service, the returned service information are all shown in the View tab. If any service name is specified in Service Name field, only partial services will be returned.
  • To install service, click Install tab. For more details please refer to service.

Wake-On-LAN

  • Using this function to perform Wake-On-LAN operations in your network.
  • Before performing this operation, you should scan network to gather network information such as IP address, MAC address. In Wake-On-LAN dialog you can directly obtain IP and MAC addresses from router, switch or xDSL modem, then add them to the main window. After finish scanning, select one or more computers in the main window, select "Tools > Wake-On-LAN" from the main menu. The Wake-On-LAN dialog would then display. To power on all computers immediately, click Wakeup button.
  • To schedule a Wake-On-LAN task to run later or at other time, click the Schedule tab, select one of the four schedule modes: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Once. Then set time and/or date, then click the Submit button.
