Name Conflict

Conflicts of names appear when you save objects with the same names to a collection. Exceptions are albums and tracks. In this case object names can be the same, but values of at least one of the following properties must be different:

For albums

  • Artist name
  • Name
  • Release year
  • Comment

In other words: one artist shouldn't have two albums with identical names, release year and the same comments.

For tracks

  • Artist name
  • Album name
  • Album release year
  • Comment for an album
  • Track number
  • Track name

The list of conflicts displays in the upper part of the window. It consists of three columns:

  • Attribute of conflict criticality: Critical – critical, Noncritical – noncritical
  • Sign displayed what objects are in the conflict:
    • Albums Albums
    • Tracks Tracks
  • Brief description of the conflict

Detailed information about selected conflict displays at the bottom of the window.

To solve a conflict, use functions available through its context menu or the menu of its details.

How the auto-correction of name conflicts works?

Auto-correction of album name conflicts

Melomania fills in the Comment field for each conflict album if it's empty, and uses the name of a medium which contains tracks of this album as a value for auto-correction. If the conflict is still unresolved, a number is added to the name of each conflict album to make conflict resolution completed.

Auto-correction of track name conflicts

A number is added to the name of each conflict track to make conflict resolution completed.
