Supported File Types

Image files
Zoom Studio supports a number of image file formats.

JPEG (.JPG)
JPEG is a set of standards produced by the Joint Pictures Expert Group. The JPEG format is not lossless image format. If you compress an image with JPEG and then decompress it you will end up with an image of lower quality than you started with. Therefore it is very important that you save the original uncompressed images when working with the JPEG format. The JPEG format is especially useful when compressing photographs. Supported by browsers.

PNG (.PNG)
PNG is a file format developed to replace and enhance GIF. It offers similar compression (or even a little better). The PNG format, as the GIF format, is lossless. In other words, if you compress an image and then decompress it, you will get exactly the same picture as you started with. PNG is suitable for compressing drawings and computer generated graphics. Supported by browsers.

LuraWave Format (.LWF)
Lurawave files are compressed with a wavelet algorithm that makes images smaller or at least as small as JPEG images. The Lurawave format can be either lossless or destructive. When LuraWave is used images can be compressed either as baseline or embedded. If the image is compressed as an embedded file it will be streamed by Inzomia, unless it is already in the browsers cache. When a picture is streamed the user will very quickly see a low detail version of the picture and as more and more data gets downloaded, more and more detail is added. Embedded LuraWave files are ideal for low bandwidth users to quickly see really large pictures. Not supported by browsers. Not supported in Zoom Studio 2 - Home Edition.

Windows Bitmaps (.BMP)
Not recommended to be used on published web pages since the files become much larger than the same file in .PNG format.

Targa (.TGA)
Not recommended to be used on published web pages since the files become much larger than the same file in .PNG format.

HTML files
Zoom Studio requires the .html or the .htm extension on HTML files.
