Managing Image & HTML Files

Selecting files

To select a file in the File View simply click the files icon. To add or remove files from the selection hold the Ctrl key and click on more files. To select a range of images click on the first, press and hold shift and press on the last of the rectangle of files you want to select. To select all images inside an area, click and hold the button outside any icons but still inside the File View area, then move the cursor to select an area. Finally, from the Edit menu use select all to select all files and select all images to select all images in the current File View.

  1. At the bottom of the workspace in the status bar you will see information about selected files.
  2. If you have selected a single file you will see the name of the file, the size in bytes and image dimensions.
  3. If you have selected more than one image file, files of different types or non-image files, the total size of the selected files and the number of selected files will be shown.
  4. Tip: Use select all images when you want to add all images in a folder to a gallery.

Viewing images

To view an image, double click it's icon in the File View. The image will be displayed in the Output View. The Info View displays information about the image:

  1. Path is the complete path to the image file
  2. FileSize is the size of the image file
  3. Memory is the amount of memory the uncompressed file uses. Note that this is the maximum possible amount of memory; the actual amount of memory used may be lower depending on your display settings.
  4. Reduced to, the percentage of the file size compared to the uncompressed size. A lower number here indicates a harder compression. For uncompressed file formats, this number may actually be larger than 100% since the file contains extra information and not only the actual image data.
  5. Dimension is the actual image dimension in pixels.
  6. Current scale shows the current scale of the image.
  7. Upper left pixel is the image pixel currently displayed in the Output Views upper left corner.

At the bottom of the Info View there are a number of buttons. These shortcut buttons vary depending on the current work mode and displayed file type. The Edit button opens up the image editor, selected in Preferences, with the currently displayed image. The Fullscreen button displays the image in fullscreen mode. If you are creating a Gallery, the Add to gallery button adds the displayed image to the gallery. If you are creating an Animation or if you are not currently in any work mode the Animate image button creates a new animation for the displayed image. Tip: Remember that you can easily hide the file views while looking at an image by selecting Hide file views from the View menu.

In the Output Window, zoom the image by pressing and holding the right mouse button while moving the cursor forward or backward. Pan the image by pressing and holding the left mouse button while moving the cursor.

Viewing HTML pages

To view a HTML page, double click its icon in the File View. The HTML page is displayed in the Output View. The Info View displays information about the HTML page:

  1. Path is the complete path to the HTML file
  2. FileSize is the size of the HTML file. Note that this is the size of the actual page, not resources referenced from the page.
  3. Shortcut buttons: At the bottom there is a button to Inzomify the displayed page. The Edit button opens the displayed HTML file in the text editor selected in the Preferences. In the Output View the HTML file is displayed as Microsoft Internet Explorer would display it. By right-clicking inside the Output View a context menu of the HTML file is displayed.

Cut

Cut files by selecting them in the File View and then either select Cut from the Edit menu or right-click and select Cut from the context menu. Cut files will be displayed as half transparent and will be removed from their original place when they are pasted.

Copy

Copy files by selecting them in the File View and then either select Copy from the Edit menu or right-click and select Copy from the context menu.

Paste

Paste files to the current directory by either selecting Paste from the Edit menu or from the right-click context menu. If a file with the same name already exists in the directory, a rename file dialog will be displayed. In the rename dialog, enter a new filename and click ok to paste the file to the directory. Press cancel to cancel the paste operation. Autorename automatically finds a destination name that is not used. Autorename all auto-renames all files with name collisions. Overwrite replaces the destination file with the one being pasted and Overwrite all replaces all files if there are more name collisions.

Delete

Delete files by selecting them in the File View and then either select Delete from the Edit menu or right-click and select Delete from the context menu. Deleted files and directories are moved to the trashcan. When a directory is deleted, all files and sub-directories are moved to the trashcan. NOTE: All files are NOT visible in Zoom Studio. Delete will however move ALL files and directories to the trashcan, even files that may not be visible from inside Zoom Studio.

Animated images

Some icons in Zoom Studio actually represent more than one file. An image with an animation also has an animation file. The cut/copy/paste/delete commands work on both files when the icon is selected. Therefore, dialogs stating a different number of files than the number of files you have selected may appear.

Rename

To rename a file or directory, select it in the File View and then either select Rename from the File menu or by pressing F2.

Go to parent

Changes the current directory to the parent of the current directory, equivalent of Windows Explorer “Back”. Go to parent can be selected from the File menu or from the context menu.

Folder Images

Folder image is an Zoom Studio feature that lets you keep track of your directories image content. Folder images are thumbnail images displayed in the File View instead of the normal folder icon. All folder images have a small folder icon in the upper right corner to make the folders easily recognizable in directories that contain other images. To create a folder image, select an image to represent the current folder. Select As folder image from the File menu or from the context menu. The folder image is now created. Select Go to parent from the Edit menu to see the new folder image. To remove the folder image, simply select the folder and select Remove folder image from the File menu.

NOTE: Folder images are stored as images with the .izd extension.

Displayed file types

Zoom Studio only displays supported file types in the File View, please refer to the Supported file types section for more information. Corrupt or non-supported image files are displayed with a broken image icon.
