Objects
Objects are the basic visual building blocks of Flying Popcorn projects. All the things you see on a project page - the images, the text, the video files - are objects. Objects that you can insert include background, Text, TextBox, Image, Figure, Drawings, Media, Flash, and WebBox objects. You can also modify many different object properties such as size, shape, color, etc. After you've created the objects you need, you can easily save them for use in feature presentations.
Object Attributes
Every object in Flying Popcorn has certain basic attributes whether it is an image, a shape, media, or something else. These attributes are editable from the Properties dialog box.
To view an object's attributes
- Right-click the object, and click Propeties in the context menu.
- Click the Attributes tab.
The Attributes Tab
- Object properties: Set the object's name, its group number, and whether it is locked or hidden.
- Blinking effect: Set how the object blinks (appears and disappears). Press the settings button to change the settings. Below the settings button is a short description of the current settings for the object. For more information on blinking, see Setting the blinking effects for objects.
- Database column link: Set the database column that the object is linked to. For example, if you link a text object to a database column, then the text will display a row from that column. This attribute is only available if you have first created a database connection and if the object is of a type that can display a database column. For more information on databases, see Database Connection.
- Tooltip: A tooltip is a small yellow message box or balloon that appears when an object is focused (the mouse button is over the object) during play. It is commonly used to give a brief explanatory note about the object. For more information about tooltip settings, see Adding tooltips to objects.
- Position: Set the position and size of the object by entering values into the fields. The Left and Top values determine how far the object is from the top left corner in terms of pixels. The Width and Height values determine the size of the object in terms of pixels.
