Known Issues & FAQ

Q: I cannot capture data from a modem. I am using Windows NT 4.0.

A: This software does not support modem monitoring in Windows NT 4.0 (Both workstation and server)

Q: I cannot capture loopback traffic in Windows Vista.

A: The current version does not support loopback monitoring in Vista

Q: I can capture packets, but after clicking Reconstruct TCP Sessions the data flows screen remains blank.

A: The analyzer requires a full TCP session to reconstruct it into the flow. That is, you need to capture a whole session from the first SYN packet to the last FIN packet. Another reason could be incorrect TCP/IP packet checksums (e.g. if they are hardware calculated). The solution is easy, set the Accept Incorrect IP Checksum and Accept Incorrect TCP checksum flags in the Options - Data Flows - Advanced Options.

Q: I am trying to capture data from a wireless adapter but nothing is displayed.

A: Disable the promiscuous mode. Open the filter dialog and change the hardware filter from the Promiscuous mode to Owner All or Owner Received.

Q: I don't see my dial-up modem

A: Check the Install WAN Monitor option in the configuration. If it is enabled, you will see an additional adapter named WAN Miniport [Network Monitor] . This is a pseudo-device that represents your dial-up modem.
