Modify or View Feed's Properties
General Tab
The general tab of the Feed Properties dialog allows you to view and edit the Feed Name and Feed Capacity.
The feed capacity determines the number of items that can be held in a feed store. If a feed store is allowed to get very large performance may suffer when viewing that feed's data. If you are only interested in the most recent feed items it is advisable to keep the default value of 400 items.
Event Log Tab
This is only displayed when viewing the properties of an Event Log Feed. If the log in question is on a remote computer, this page allows you to change the user name and password used for the connection.
Scheduling Tab
The scheduling tab of the Feed Properties dialog allows you to set how frequently EventMeister should poll the source log for data.
For more information about scheduling please see the section Set How Often the Feed Should be Polled for New Data in the Feed Wizard section.
Filter Tab
The filter tab of the Feed Properties dialog allows you to create, modify and delete feed filters. Feed filters are applied to items as they are received by the feed. For example, you might want to discard all items except warnings.
For more information about feed filters please see the section Specify Filters in the Feed Wizard section.
NOTE: Changes to the filter will only apply to new data. To apply the changes retrospectively please use 'Reset Feed' command on the Feed menu.
Notifications Tab
This page allows you to view and change the notifications used by the current feed.
For more information, please click here.
Reporting Tab
The Reporting tab of the Feed Properties dialog is only available in licensed versions of EventMeister.
The tab is used to configure EventMeister to periodically export all the feed's current data to file (in all the usual formats: text, csv, rss, xml, formatted html) and optionally email that file to a given recipient. After the export, the existing feed data is automatically cleared from the store.
You can set reports to trigger according to a daily/weekly/monthly schedule, or whenever the store reaches a certain size. This last option is of particular benefit for feeds that have been set to "unlimited capacity" - the report can be set to trigger before the store reaches an unmanageable size, saving the data in a human-readable format then clearing the store ready for new items.
For more information specific to the options on this page, please see the section FeedProperties - Reporting Page
For more information about reporting in general, please see the section Reports and Exporting Feed Data.
