Networks Relationships: How To

This section provides instructions on how to configure a Networks Relationships in the NetworkShield Firewall 2006.

  • Create a network rule
  • Edit a network rule
  • Change order of a network rule
  • Disable a network rule
  • Delete a network rule

To create a network relationship rule

  • In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:
    • Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006
    • Expand Configuration
    • Click Networks
    • Select the Network Relationships tab
  • Click Create a New Network Rule Create a New Network Rule on the Toolbar.
  • In the New Network Rule Wizard, follow the on-screen instructions.

Note

To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.

To edit a network rule

  • In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:
    • Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006.
    • Expand Configuration.
    • Click Networks.
    • Select the Network Relationships tab.
  • In the configuration section, select the applicable network rule.
  • Click Edit Selected Network Rule Edit Selected Network Rule on the Toolbar.
  • To edit a source for network rule select the Source Network Objects tab.
    • Click Add... to add source objects for selected rule.
    • In Network Objects, select the applicable network objects and click Add.
  • To edit a destination for network rule select the Destination Network Objects tab.
    • Click Add... to add destination objects for selected rule.
    • In Network Objects, select the applicable network objects and click Add.
  • To edit a relationship for network rule select the Network Relationship tab.
    • Click Network Address Translation (NAT) to specify a NAT relationship from the source network to the destination network.
    • Click Route to specify a Route relationship between the source network and the destination network.
  • To edit a IP address for NAT select the NAT address tab.
    • Click Set address... to specify IP address that will be used for Network Address Translation.

Note

To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.

To change order of a network rule

  • In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:
    • Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006
    • Expand Configuration
    • Click Networks
    • Select the Network Relationships tab
  • In the configuration section, select the applicable network rule.
  • Click Move Selected Rule Up Up or Move Selected Rule Down Down on the Toolbar.

Note

To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.

To disable a network rule

  • In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:
    • Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006
    • Expand Configuration
    • Click Networks
    • Select the Network Relationships tab
  • In the configuration section, select the applicable network rules.
  • Click Disable Selected Rules Disable Selected Rules on the Toolbar.

Note

To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.

To delete a network rule

  • In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:
    • Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006
    • Expand Configuration
    • Click Networks
    • Select the Network Relationships tab
  • In the configuration section, select the applicable rules.
  • Click Delete Selected Rules Delete Selected Rules on the Toolbar.

Note

To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.
