Firewall Policy: How To

This section provides instructions on how to configure a Firewall policy in the NetworkShield Firewall 2006.

  • Create an Access rule
  • Create a Redirect rule
  • Manage Firewall Rules
  • Edit predefined firewall rules
  • Edit Access rules
  • Edit Redirect rule

To create a firewall access rule

In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:

  1. Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006
  2. Click Firewall Policy
  3. Click Create a Firewall Rule Firewall Rule on the Toolbar.
  4. In the New Firewall Rule Wizard, follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. On the Rule Type step select the Access Rule type.

Note

To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.

To create a firewall redirect rule

In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:

  1. Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006
    Click Firewall Policy
    Click Create a Firewall Rule Firewall Rule on the Toolbar.
  2. In the New Firewall Rule Wizard, follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. On the Rule Type step select the Redirect Rule type.

Note

To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.

Manage Firewall Rules

This section provides instructions on how to manage a firewall rules in the NetworkShield Firewall 2006.

  1. Change order of a firewall rule
  2. Disable a firewall rule
  3. Delete a firewall rule

To change order of a firewall rule

  1. In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:
    Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006
    Click Firewall Policy
  2. In the configuration section, select the applicable rule from User Defined Firewall Policy Rules list.
  3. Click Move Selected Rule Up Up or Move Selected Rule Down Down on the Toolbar.

Note

  • To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.
    Predefined Firewall Policy Rules are always processed before all firewall policy rules.
  • The Default last rule is always ordered last of the firewall policy rules.

To disable a firewall rules

  1. In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:
    Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006
    Click Firewall Policy
  2. In the configuration section, select the applicable rules.
  3. Click Disable Selected Rules Disable Selected Rules on the Toolbar.

Note

  • To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.
  • You cannot disable the Default last rule.

To delete a firewall rules

  1. In the console tree of NetworkShield Firewall:
    Expand NetworkShield Firewall 2006
    Click Firewall Policy
  2. In the configuration section, select the applicable rules.
  3. Click Delete Selected Rules Delete Selected Rules on the Toolbar.

Note

  • To update configuration click the Apply button in the Information Bar above the configuration section.
    You cannot delete the Default last rule.
  • You cannot delete Predefined Firewall Policy Rules
