Using Skins

A 'Skin' refers to the look and feel of your desktop. Using Optimal Desktop™ Skins, you can change the colors, icon positions, tab size and fonts, tab colors of your desktop elements at will, anytime.

You can associate your Skin to a Cabinet. The default Skin associated with the Cabinet is managed by the Tools > Desktop Manager > Template Manager module.

Skins are assigned to cabinets through the Cabinet Manager, accessible through Tools/Desktop Manager or the Cabinets menu.

Creating a Skin for your Desktop

You can create new Skins for your desktop using the Skin Manager.

To design a Skin click Tools > Desktop Manager > Skin Manager.

To create a new Skin right click on the Skin Manager folder, or click the Skin icon.

The tabs on top each manage a specific aspect of the skin. Simply assign values to each element to design or change a skin.

The Tabs at the bottom of the screen control drawer, Section, Filter and Page Tab settings.

Skin

You can import images from the Using Graphics Manager and apply them to your skins. You can also preview the skins by clicking on the TV icon.

Assigning a Skin to a Cabinet

Skins are assigned to Cabinets. The Template Manager specifies the default skin for newly created cabinets.

To assign a Skin to a Cabinet, do as follows:

Click Tools > Desktop Manager > Cabinet Manager. From the list of Cabinets configured for your desktop, open the Cabinet that you want to modify. The CabinetName window opens.

From the Settings Tab Ă  Associated Skin choose from one your pre-defined skins.

Deleting a Skin

You can only delete a Skin from the Skin Manager window. To delete a Skin, click Tools > Desktop Manager > Skin Manager. A list of all the Skins configured for your desktop is displayed. Select the Skin you want to delete and right click on the selected Skin and choose Delete from the options displayed. Skins that are assigned to Cabinets cannot be deleted.
