Using RSS (Syndication Feeds)
RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is a format for syndicating feeds. A feed file stores headlines to a news source or a blog site.
RSS feed folders pull news from online sources real time and display the results in a list of headlines.
Many popular web sites and most blogs offer Syndicated XML feeds that can be subscribed to and viewed in Optimal Desktop™.
You can recognize XML feeds by their orange XML logo:

Optimal Desktop™ let's you aggregate, manage and share RSS feeds through Optimal Bookmark.
You can also use the RSS Wizard (ALT + R) to search a web page for Feeds. You can find the RSS Wizard command in the RSS menu.
Creating RSS Feed Folder
You can drag RSS links to Optimal Bookmark, or to the Section Tab area. Optimal Desktop recognizes the link and assigns an RSS icon to the folder or the Section tab.

If you have a link to an RSS feed, you can also create a new section or folder and enter the address into the link field of the Section or Optimal Link folder. Make sure you specify the correct type for the links first.
RSS feeds update real time. The update interval can be set globally or per feed. Updates can also be updated manually with the F6 command. The RSS commands are accessible through the RSS menu.
You can over-ride the global feed update settings. To do so select the Section tab and view the "Show Link Properties …" from there you select RSS Control and change the settings to over-ride your global settings for this feed. The update Intervals only work when the Global Setting has been activated. So you can set your Global update settings for daily or weekly and change the individual settings as described above.
RSS Manager
You can access the RSS manager from the RSS menu or the Tools > Desktop-Manager > RSS Manager menu.
RSS manager lets you set headline color and feed update attributes as well as some other settings.
RSS Container
RSS Container is a special folder in Optimal Desktop for storing links in an RSS format. Use RSS containers as a research folder to save links of interest. Drag RSS headlines or any web link into your RSS container. Create multiple RSS containers for each porject and never lose a link you find. You can use the Optimal Desktop search feature to search the saved links and its comments.
You can create RSS containers in Optimal Bookmark, or directly in a Section Tab. Create the New Section or New folder, and choose the RSS Container Type (The default icon is a Green RSS folder) option and enter a Name for your new folder.

Now you can simply drag headlines from any Feed folder into this folder or define your own feed items (See Feed Link Item) in the RSS Container.
