Modifying Tabs
Cabinet, Drawer, Section and Filter Tabs can be modified in similar fashion as follows.
Editing the Name fields
Cabinet, Drawer and Section Tabs use the following name fields

- Name: This field is used by the program internally and is always unique. When Section links are created the title of the link is automatically assigned here.
- Caption: This is the name that will be displayed on your Drawer tab. It's a good idea to select a name that will help you identify the contents of your Drawer. This name can be different that the Name field.
- Tooltip: The Tooltip is the message that appears when you place your cursor over your Drawer tab. Your message can comprise a maximum of 255 characters. It's a good idea to specify a message that explains the contents of the Drawer. For example, if your Drawer contains Sections that hold links only to MS Excel Worksheets for the last quarter, your tooltip could read "Excel Worksheets for the last quarter".
- Comments: Use this field to describe your link. The Search utility will use this field to search for specific information. Also the XML export modules and the "Copy link to email" includes this field in their description.
- Synchronizing your tooltip with Drawer name: If you want your tooltip and caption to display the same text as your Drawer name, mark the Synchronize Caption with Name and Synchronize Tooltip with Name check boxes.
Note: These checkboxes are marked by default.
- Change Icon: Optimal Desktop assigns a default icon to every Tab. You can change that, by first un-clicking the default icon box and choose from the array of interesting icons in Optimal Desktop.
- By default, your tab icon is specified in the Templates Manager. To specify a different icon go to the Template Manager, and use the Change Icon command to select an icon.
Customizing the Tab Skin
In the Tabs tab you can specify the following:
Foreground: You can specify the color of your Tab's Caption.
Background: This sets the color of your tab.
Foreground-Active: This sets the color of your Tab's Caption, when the Tab is active. A Drawer or Section is considered 'active' when it is selected from the desktop, to view its contents.
Background-Active: This sets the color of your Tab, when the Drawer is active.
Flyby: This changes the color of your Tab Caption when you point your cursor.
In the Icon Alignment pane, you can choose your selected icon's position in the tab. Note that the position you specify will override the default Skin's icon position. Your choice of icon positioning will be maintained even if you apply a different Skin to the Tab later.
You can also create new Sections and/or move or copy sections from the selected drawer to other drawers in your desktop. To do so, click the Sections tab in the Customize Drawer window.
You can also choose to hide or display Drawer Tabs on your desktop.
