How many desktop files can I create and use?
You can create any number of desktop files. Each time you save a desktop in a different name, it becomes a new desktop. A desktop is a file, just like any Microsoft office application file.

The Desktop file size does not change after deleting objects (e.g. Cabinets)
Use Save As instead of Save when saving the Desktop. Save only saves changes without reducing the Desktop file size.

What is the difference between a Cabinet and a Panel?
A Panel is an instance of Optimal Desktop's windowing display. Each Panel can display one Cabinet at a time. The same Cabinet can be displayed in both Panels. You can view different areas of the same Cabinet in the 2 Panels and share information between them!

How many windows can I view within a Panel?
You can view a maximum of 3 windows within a Panel, at any given point in time. You can use Optimal Desktop's Splitter feature, to split your Panels into windows and size them as desired. You can also size your panels directly on your desktop.

How many Cabinets can I create for my desktop?
You can create 128 Cabinets for your desktop. However, you can view only 2 Cabinets at a time, one in each Panel.

How to change to a different Cabinet?
To view a different Cabinet in a Panel, right click on the title bar of the current Cabinet. Choose Select > Select Cabinet from the options displayed. A list of the Cabinets configured for that Panel is displayed. Select the Cabinet you want.

How many Drawers can I create for a Cabinet?
You can create a maximum of 30 Drawers in each Cabinet.

Can I undelete a Drawer that I deleted by mistake?
Yes, you can. To restore a Drawer, right click on the title bar of the current Cabinet, or a Drawer within that Cabinet. Select Restore Deleted Drawer from the options displayed. Your deleted Drawer is restored. Please note that if you save your desktop after deleting a Drawer, you will not be able to restore the deleted Drawer, unless you load the previous desktop again.

How many Sections can I create per Drawer?
You can create a maximum of 30 Sections in a Drawer.

Can I undelete a Section that I deleted by mistake?
Yes, you can. To restore a Section, right click on the title bar of the current Cabinet, or a Section within that Cabinet. Select Restore Deleted Section from the options displayed. Your deleted Section is restored. Please note that if you save your desktop after deleting a Section, you will not be able to restore the deleted Section, unless you load the previous desktop again.

How many Pages can I create per Section?
You can create a maximum of 64 pages in a section. The default number of Page Tabs is set at 16. You can change this setting from the Tools > Customize Desktop Settings > Internet à Web Tabs

Can I undelete a page that I deleted by mistake?
No, once you delete a Page tab they are gone. Page Tabs are temporary and are closed when you switch Cabinets or close the file. To store the Page Tab link, you must store it as a Section Tab.

When I switch to Filter Tabs my Page Tabs disappear, what happens?
You cannot display Page Tabs and Filter Tabs simultaneously. When you activate Filter Tabs all of your Page Tabs close. When you deactivate the Filter Tabs, you return to your previous Sate.

I want more control over my Filters. How do I achieve this?
If you want complete control over your desktop files and filter them at will, switch to the manual filter mode.

How many Skins can I create for my desktop?
You can configure 128 different Skins for your desktop. Unleash your creativity!

If I apply a different Skin to a Cabinet, what happens to my individual Drawer Skin setting?
Your individual Drawer setting remains intact even when you apply a different Skin to your desktop, after customizing your Drawer.

How many States can I create for my desktop?
You can create a maximum of 128 States for your desktop.

How can I quickly apply different States to my desktop?
You can apply States very quickly by assigning Shortcuts to States.
