How to load www.ITKnowledge.com or earthweb.com sites
The site www.ITKnowledge.com is difficult to downloading. It uses forms and cookies for user authentication.
However Offline Explorer Enterprise 1.1 and higher supports loading files from this site. For example, you may want to download a book with the following URL: http://www.itknowledge.com/reference/library/1556225466/ewtoc.html. The following steps are required:
- Go to File | New in the Main menu and create a new Project with the URL above.
- In the Project Properties dialog set the Level value to 999, then click on Advanced and Passwords nodes.
- Enter your login name and password into the corresponding fields. Click the OK button.
- Open Options dialog and ensure that "Use MS IE Cookies" box is checked. Click the OK button.
Now you can start loading the Project. However if you want to have only the book text with no other (useless) files and sites, I would suggest the following extra steps:
- Open the Project Properties dialog again and go to URL Filters and then to Server node.
- Select "Load files only within the starting server."
- Click on the Directory node and select "Custom directories configuration."
- In the lower frame select "View included directories keywords." Now add the following keywords to the list:
- PSUser
- images
- library
- archive
- standard
- Click on the Filename node and select "Custom filenames configuration."
- In the lower frame select "View excluded filenames keywords." Now add the following keywords to the list:
- Click the OK button.
Now only the necessary files will be loaded. |
